SARAJEVO, June 12 (Hina) - Representatives of the initiative
committee for establishing the new Bosnian Croat party on Friday
confirmed they were definitely leaving the Croatian Democratic
Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BH).
They also said that the constituent convention of the new party
would be held in Sarajevo on June 27.
The temporary name of the new party is "New Croatian Initiative".
Ivo Lozancic, president of the initiative committee, told
reporters in Sarajevo that the decision on establishing the new
party was final.
"We will determine the name of the new party on Monday and today we
are starting to collect signatures of support for our candidates in
the forthcoming elections," Lozancic said.
The initiative committee consists of 21 Croat officials from the
former structure of HDZ BH.
The basic principle of the party is that Bosnia-Herzegovina, as
designed by the Dayton Peace Agreement, is our homeland and that we
support equality of Croats and their status of a constituent nation
on the whole territory of Bosnia-Herzegovina, but we also demand
this for all other nations, said Kresimir Zubak, Croat member of the
Bosnian Presidency.
Members of the initiative committee confirmed that they would put
up their candidates for all levels of authority.
They allowed for the possibility of election alliance with other
parties, adding though that there had been no concrete negotiations
on that question.
