SARAJEVO, May 26 (Hina) - A delegation of the US Congress House of
Representatives, led by John Porter, on Tuesday visited Sarajevo
where they met with the Croat member of the Bosnian Presidency,
Kresimir Zubak, a statement from Zubak's office said.
The meeting focused on the implementation of the Dayton agreement,
the return of refugees and war crimes suspects.
The US delegation, which arrived in Bosnia-Herzegovina in its
capacity as the US Congress Helsinki Commission, were especially
interested in the forthcoming September elections and the
functioning of joint Bosnian institutions, in particular the state
Presidency.
The president of the Helsinki Human Rights Commission in Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Srdjan Dizdarevic, on Tuesday handed to the US
congressman Porter an appeal of non-government organisations from
Bosnia-Herzegovina asking Congress to engage in the establishment
of an independent, permanent international tribunal.
A decision on the establishment of the tribunal should be adopted at
a diplomatic conference which is expected to take place in Rome in
mid June.
