ZAGREB, May 20 (Hina) - Croatian Deputy Foreign Minister Ivo
Sanader Wednesday received a delegation of the German federal
parliament headed by commissioner for Croatia Hartmut Koschyk.
Talks focused on relations between Croatia and Germany and Croatia
and the European Union.
Sanader acquainted the German delegation with the steps the
Croatian Government had taken to normalise conditions in the Danube
River Region and in the return of refugees and displaced persons.
Croatia has been applying the highest European standards in the
protection of minority and human rights, he said.
The German parliamentary delegation welcomed the measures the
Croatian Government had taken in the return process of refugees and
displaced persons, and emphasised it was important that these
measures be consistently implemented.
Sanader said Croatia expected the European Union to take a
constructive and positive approach which will recognise Croatia's
political success to date as well as its contribution to the
stabilisation of the political situation in the whole region.
Supporting Croatia in accessing European integration, the German
delegation said Croatian Government efforts in the return process
would considerably contribute to that end.
