VUKOVAR, Feb 20 (Hina) - As part of the pre-registration of
displaced persons in the Danube River region of eastern Croatia,
the staff of the Vukovar regional office for the displaced and
refugees Friday visited 1,896 families in the part of Vukovar-
Srijem County which was under UN transitional administration until
15 January.
The staff did not find 1,035 families at reported addresses.
According to office head Ante Drmic, these people either returned
to their houses elsewhere in Croatia or left the country.
Of the 861 families found at reported addresses, 255 declared they
want to return to their homes in other parts of Croatia and are
waiting for return plan certificates.
Four-hundred and sixty families said they want to sell their
property and leave Croatia, 90 families said they want to stay in
the Danube region, while 56 families have still not made up their
minds.
