VUKOVAR, Feb 15 (Hina) - The mayor of Vukovar and president of the
Municipal Committee for the Establishment of Trust, Vladimir
Stengl, on Sunday condemned disturbance of public order and peace
by the members of a rally of the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP),
which took place in Vukovar on Saturday.
Stengl also warned of other inappropriate ways of behaviour such as
the display of Serb flags contrary to legal regulations and
forcible removal of plaques with the name Vukovar.
"We believe that such acts are not well-meant. Vukovar needs peace,
order and work in order to regain the status it deserves," Stengl
said in a statement.
"The overall reconstruction of Vukovar, which also includes the
establishment of trust, cannot tolerate disturbance of public
order and peace the way it happened on 14 February in the Croatian
Vukovar. I believe that all parties should abide by that equally,"
Stengl said.
