SDP-HSLS COALITION HOLDS ELECTION RALLY FOR DUBROVNIK COUNTY

DUBROVNIK, Dec 20 (Hina) - The Social Democratic Party-Croatian Social Liberal Party (SDP/HSLS) coalition on Sunday held its central election rally for Dubrovnik-Neretva County in Dubrovnik. Addressing those gathered at the meeting, SDP president Ivica Racan said those citizens who were dissatisfied with the current situation say in the coalition a victorious force. Dissatisfaction must not be Croatia's destiny, Racan said, adding the Croatian people were facing a battle for a new, prosperous Croatia. The SDP president said the coalition would protect Croatia's stability by securing its development and prosperity and decreasing unemployment. "The Croat people has no future if it stays isolated and does not integrate in Europe; we shall make some steps which will prove that a kind of authority which serves its people has come to power", Racan said. HSLS president Drazen Budisa informed the gathered that earlier in the day "a serious political incident" occurred at a coalition news conference in Cavtat. "Our officials were attacked... which was aimed at intimidating them, however, such cases can only compromise the elections and democracy in Croatia", Budisa said. (hina) rml
