ZAGREB, Dec 17 (Hina) - The Central Croatian Cultural and Publishing Society on Friday issued a statement on the occasion of the January 3 elections for the Croatian parliament House of Representatives, in which it advocates a
responsible and critical public word. "Various political forces, according to their goals, are either causing fear of changes or present changes as a dramatic precondition for survival," says the statement delivered to Hina. The Society points out that it "can accept only those programmes for social and national development which are founded on the constructive spirit of tolerance and the appreciation of others. We regret to have to point out that besides the heated debate on so called big issues, we can barely recognise in party declarations proposals for something objectively new, especially in education, culture, science, and the arts." Representatives, in which it advocates a responsible and critical
public word.
"Various political forces, according to their goals, are either
causing fear of changes or present changes as a dramatic
precondition for survival," says the statement delivered to Hina.
The Society points out that it "can accept only those programmes for
social and national development which are founded on the
constructive spirit of tolerance and the appreciation of others. We
regret to have to point out that besides the heated debate on so
called big issues, we can barely recognise in party declarations
proposals for something objectively new, especially in education,
culture, science, and the arts."
The Society advocates equal presentation of party programmes in
public media, especially on television.
The Society "does not expect manipulation in the electoral
process."
