ZAGREB, Dec 7 (Hina) - The United States wants the impending

told reporters in Zagreb on Tuesday.#L#
Washington primarily wants the elections to be fair, Frowick,
deputy special adviser to the U.S. President and state secretary
for the implementation of the Dayton peace agreement, told the
press after meeting Croatian parliament vice president Vladimir
Seks.
The U.S. will wholly support the results of fair elections, the
ambassador said, pointing out the elections would be closely
followed because, he added, the U.S. was greatly interested in how
they would be implemented at this historic moment for Croatia.
Satisfied with what he said were useful talks with Seks, Frowick
said the U.S. delegation was exchanging views with a wide range of
political party leaders.
Talks on the elections for parliament's House of Representatives
are being held also with representatives of the international
community, such as non-governmental organisations, and
international organisations such as the Organisation for Security
and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the ambassador said.
In his address to the press, Seks insisted on the technical side of
preparations for the elections which he said was significant for
the implementation of free and correct elections.
"We discussed certain opinions, recommendations, and proposals
which in the technical implementation of parliamentary elections
would eliminate all doubts which might throw a shadow on fair and
correct elections," said Seks.
Frowick later met Croatian Defence Minister Pavao Miljavac. After a
working lunch with Foreign Minister Mate Granic, he is to meet with
representatives of the OSCE Mission to Croatia.
