ZAGREB, Dec 16 (Hina) - Fifteen parties which had MPs in the Croatian parliament's House of Representatives on 31 December 1998 will receive almost US$2.7 million from the state budget for the electoral campaign for the January 4
parliamentary elections. The chairman of the state electoral commission, Marijan Ramuscak, told reporters in Zagreb on Thursday the commission decided to earmark US$1.36 million for the ruling Croatian Democratic Union, US$220,000 for the Croatian Peasants' Party, US$173,000 for the Social Democratic Party, and US$160,000 for the Croatian Social Liberal Party. The state electoral commission's decision is based on a decision passed in March by the Lower House Committee for the Constitution, Rule-Book, and Political System. The state electoral commission's decision is based on a decision

Rule-Book, and Political System. According to the decision, funds
for the electoral promotion of parties which had MPs in the House of
Representatives on 31 December 1999 are distributed according to
the principle by which 20 percent of the entire figure is
distributed equally to all parties, whereas 80 percent in
proportion to the number of MPs.
