CROATIAN WRITERS' SOCIETY HOLDS COMMEMORATIVE SESSION

ZAGREB, Dec 12 (Hina) - We all share the pain in our hearts, but pride as well, for the work of President Franjo Tudjman, who created this state. Thanks to President Tudjman, who knew how to gather all forces, we have been living in our own country for 10 years already. Tudjman's work entered all pores of our lives, he created the focus point from which we set off into recognising our own strength which was supressed for many years, the president of the Croatian Writers' Society's Administration Board, Slavko Mihalic, said at Sunday's commemorative session. Mihalic said that the first Croatian President joined the Croatian Writers' Society in 1970. Ante Stamac pointed to President Tudjman's most known work; "Great Ideas and Small Nations" (Velike ideje i mali narodi), and "Horrors of War" (Bespuca povijesne zbiljnosti). Stamac said that the President had a special style of writing, his readers were of different social groups, adding that Tudjman was able to persuade his collocutors. He fought for the Croatian language code, the language standard, using all of its potentials. Tudjman demonstrated his knowledge of the work of Croatian writers, and the Croatian Writers' Society was honoured to have President Tudjman as a member, vice president of the Society Andjelko Novakovic said.
