ZAGREB, Dec 9 (Hina) - The mixed choir "Lira" on Wednesday marked its 45 anniversary with a concert held at the Croatian Music Institute in Zagreb. For 45 years 'Lira' has been caring for and preserving from oblivion Hebrew religious
and Yiddish, Spanish-Sephardic, and modern Israeli songs. Apart from that, the choir has performed Croatian folk songs as well as the works of Croatian classical and modern repertoires. The concert, sponsored by the Culture Ministry and the Spanish Embassy in Zagreb, gathered a large audience, including a number of Croatian public figures and members of the diplomatic corps. The beginning of the concert was marked by the chief rabbi in Croatia, Kotel Dadon, who extended his best wishes for Hanukkha. Attending the concert was also Maestro Emil Cosetto, who has been the choir's art director for 44 years.(hina) rml.
