ZAGREB, Dec 3 (Hina) - The reputation of the Croatian World Congress
in states in which live a significant number of Croats is growing
and the political leaders of these countries have begun recognising
us as a representative of the Croatian people, CWC president,
Father Simun Sito Coric, said on the second day of the CWC Central
Committee session on Friday.
Speaking about the six years of work of the Congress, Coric said
there were problems only in those states which do not yet have an
organisation to carry out the CWC work.
The CWC Central Committee, gathering national congresses from 29
world countries in which Croatian emigrants live in significant
numbers, on Friday analysed the situation in the Congress and its
role at the turn of the century.
The session also focused on preparations for a Congress convention
to be held next year.
CWC secretary-general Josip Ante Sovulj said they would not suggest
to members of the Congress for which party to vote in the upcoming
parliamentary elections, because, as he said, Croatia is a
democratic party and Croatian emigrants believe in the political
and national maturity of voters in electing a political party.
Leaders of the Croatian World Congress will inform the public about
the conclusions of the session at Saturday's news conference.
According to CWC estimates, there is about three and a half million
Croats living in some 60 countries around the world.
