NEW YORK, Nov 15 (Hina) - Bosnia-Herzegovina's Presidency members -
Alija Izetbegovic, Ante Jelavic and Zivko Radisic - on Monday
addressed a session of the UN Security Council in New York, on the
occasion of the fourth anniversary of the Dayton peace accords.
In his speech Alija Izetbegovic attached the greatest importance to
the unsolved problem of the return of displaced persons and
refugees and mentioned, in this context, the equal protection of
all citizens and their property and other rights. He reproached
those who persistently advocate two nationally homogenised
entities in Bosnia. The Moslem member said the Dayton agreements
did help stop the war in his country but did not offer sufficient
possibilities for Bosnia to manage its jobs successfully.
Ante Jelavic spoke of the functioning of authorities in Bosnia as
well. He objected to too speedy and often imposed solutions made by
the international High Representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina.
According to Jelavic, such imposed decisions produce unfavourable
effects to the political life in the country.
He also advocated a speedier process of the return of refugees,
saying that a half of the total number of returnees has come back to
areas populated by a Croat majority.
The Croat member of the Presidency described the fight against
terrorism, organised crime and corruption as top priority.
The Serb member, Zivko Radisic, expressed his opinion on the
solutions to two issues. He objected to the international community
for its decision on the arbitration for Brcko district. He
complained also that the distribution of financial assistance of
the international community was not balanced and it caused,
according to him, a slower economic recovery of the Serb entity.
