SARAJEVO, Oct 19 (Hina) - International organisations' representatives in Bosnia-Herzegovina, some political parties and a part of the media in that country have condemned Croatian President Franjo Tudjman's statement that Bosnia
should function as a state including three entities. A spokesman for the OSCE mission in Bosnia, Alexander Nietzsche, on Tuesday said the statement on the third entity given by President Tudjman during his talks with foreign correspondents in Zagreb, is contrary to the Dayton Agreements' provisions under which there are two entities in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Tudjman's statement can only undermine the implementation of the Dayton treaty and it does not present any contribution to the peace process in Bosnia-Herzegovina, said the spokesman of the mission of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). SARAJEVO, Oct 19 (Hina) - International organisations'
representatives in Bosnia-Herzegovina, some political parties and
a part of the media in that country have condemned Croatian
President Franjo Tudjman's statement that Bosnia should function
as a state including three entities.
A spokesman for the OSCE mission in Bosnia, Alexander Nietzsche, on
Tuesday said the statement on the third entity given by President
Tudjman during his talks with foreign correspondents in Zagreb, is
contrary to the Dayton Agreements' provisions under which there are
two entities in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Tudjman's statement can only undermine the implementation of the
Dayton treaty and it does not present any contribution to the peace
process in Bosnia-Herzegovina, said the spokesman of the mission of
the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
A representative of the European Commission in Bosnia, Frane
Maroevic, uttered a similar stand.
The Office of the High Representative (OHR) joined them in such
objections.
UN spokesman in Sarajevo, Douglas Coffman, described Tudjman's
statement on the third entity as unacceptable.
"Tudjman's New Blow to Dayton," read a headline published by the
"Dnevni Avaz" daily, close to the (Moslem-led) Party of the
Democratic Action (SDA). This newspaper, however, did not relay
Tudjman's news conference completely.
Mirza Hajric, a foreign policy advisor of Alija Izetbegovic, Moslem
member of Bosnia's collective Presidency, told "Dnevni Avaz" that
words about the third entity "have taken off masks from Tudjman's
face" and reflected, in the best way, Croatian President's attitude
toward the Dayton Accords.
The only statement in the Sarajevo media in favour of Tudjman's
words was given by Bosnia's Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ BiH)
official, Mate Franjicevic who said to the Radio of Bosnia-
Herzegovina that in this case Tudjman's sentence was used out
context.
The sentence should be interpreted in context of what President
Tudjman was speaking of. The HDZ BiH continuously reiterates that
Bosnia-Herzegovina cannot survive if all three constituent people
won't be satisfied with it. This is not about three entities, since
being constituent and equal for all three peoples can be achieved
outside three as well as outside two entities, Franjicevic added.
