ZAGREB, Oct 25 (Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) bench in the National Sabor's House of Representatives on Monday evening accepted and politically supported final bills on election and constituencies for the election of MPs
in the lower house. The HDZ bench also endorses rules for the Croatian Radio and Television (HRT) coverage of the pre-election campaign, which are in line with the proposal given by an expert working group. These rules were also accepted by the HRT Council, said Vladimir Seks, the HDZ bench's head, after a long session of the bench. ZAGREB, Oct 25 (Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) bench in
the National Sabor's House of Representatives on Monday evening
accepted and politically supported final bills on election and
constituencies for the election of MPs in the lower house.
The HDZ bench also endorses rules for the Croatian Radio and
Television (HRT) coverage of the pre-election campaign, which are
in line with the proposal given by an expert working group. These
rules were also accepted by the HRT Council, said Vladimir Seks, the
HDZ bench's head, after a long session of the bench.
Seks announced that the HDZ would not generally name its current
deputies in the House of Counties on lists for the lower house,
although any person can be a candidate regardless of their posts. He
added that it is a political issue whether parties will propose
current MPs in the upper house for candidates for seats in the House
of Representatives (at the forthcoming election).
According to the HDZ official, it is likely that the provisions of
Article 9 of the law on election of MPs will be extended. This
article refers to the irreconcilability of performing the mandate
of a member of the parliament with other duties.
Commenting on a bill on public rallies, Seks said it would not be
voted this Friday, as it is necessary to remove differences in the
attitude to solutions between the Government and some deputies from
Zagreb. Under the current bill, the Zagreb Assembly and town and
municipal councils will determine places where people can gather at
public rallies, while a part of MPs believe that only the Interior
Ministry should be authorised to determine such locations.
