ROME, Oct 29 (Hina) - A Croatian state delegation led by President Franjo Tudjman on Friday ended its two-day official visit to the Holy See and Italy. On behalf of President Tudjman, Granic handed 16 medals at the Croatian embassy in
Rome to people who contributed to the development of relations between Croatia and Italy and for the creation of an independent Croatia. Among the awarded are Italian officials, representatives of the Croatian minority in Italy and Croatians living in this country. Speaking at the ceremony, Granic said the visit of the Croatian state delegation to the Holy See and Italy had been exceptionally successful. Talks between Tudjman and pope John Paul II and the holy See Secretary, Cardinal Angel Sodano, as well as with Italian President Carlo Azegli Ciampi, were exceptionally significant for relations between Croatia and the Holy See, and between Croatia and Italy, Granic said.
