KNIN KNIN, Oct 7 (Hina) - Members of the Croatian National Sabor - Milan Djukic and Veselin Pejnovic - on Thursday visited the Knin area, talked with local residents and held a meeting with Knin Mayor Josip Odak. After the closed meeting, Djukic told reporters that it was necessary to accelerate the return of people and give them back their property. According to the data released by Mayor Odak, 10 to 11 thousand Serbs have come back to the municipality of Knin, whereas Djukic claimed that 8,000-9,000 Serbs had returned so far. Djukic also advocated that a new election bill should enable the Serb minority to vote both for its representatives and for a state election list. Pejnovic stressed that Knin should become a town of the true economic progress. The host of the Serb MPs, Mayor Odak, told them that the political and security situation in Knin was satisfactory. Odak added that the biggest difficulty was bad economy. He said pressure should be exerted on the Croatian Government, humanitarian agencies and the international community to try and find a permanent solution to the issue of the accommodation of Bosnian Croat refugees who settled in houses which Knin Serbs had left.
