ZAGREB, Oct 1 (Hina) - Croatia's Railway Workers' Trade Union
announced a stoppage in the railway traffic in Croatia at 11:00 am
October 11.
The union's head, Darko Pericic, told Friday's news conference that
they would discontinue the traffic during a hearing at the Zagreb
municipal court convened after the Croatian Rail (HZ) Management
sued five railway workers' unions.
The HZ Management claims that during the two-hour stoppage of the
traffic organised on April 7, unions breached provisions of the
labour law and of the law on the HZ, and demand that unionists be not
allowed to discontinue traffic as part of their industrial action.
Pericic said the Railway Workers' Union had requested talks with
Premier Matesa. They would like to notify Premier of "uneconomical
management of the HZ," and ask for an increase in salaries for next
year.
We have so far received no answer, Pericic said adding that in case
Matesa refuses to talk with unionists, this union will head toward
the Government with several thousand employees.
