EXHIBITION OF OTTOMAN CULTURE TO OPEN IN ZAGREB THURSDAY

ZAGREB, Oct 14 (Hina) - Croatian Culture Minister Bozo Biskupic on Thursday received a Turkish Culture Ministry delegation, headed by Minister Istemihan Talay. Talay will tonight speak at the opening of an exhibition entitled "The Treasures of the Ottoman Culture". After the meeting, Talay expressed satisfaction with the fact that the most beautiful and the most valuable works of the Ottoman culture will be presented at the show. The Croatian and Turkish Presidents, Franjo Tudjman and Suleyman Demirel, have significantly contributed to organising the exhibition, he added. "This is the first exhibition staged outside of Turkey. We have had many offers, but we have chosen Croatia because we consider Croatia a friendly and brotherly country", he said. Croatia's Biskupic said the visit of his Turkish counterpart would also be an opportunity to discuss future cooperation in culture. "We have suggested that an exhibition of Anatolian civilisation be staged in Croatia and that the cooperation between the Dubrovnik Summer Festival and the Theatre Festival in Aspednos be intensified. We have also discussed compiling a Turkish-Croatian and Croatian-Turkish dictionary and improving our cooperation in archaeology", said Biskupic. (hina) mm rml
