SARAJEVO, Oct 5 (Hina) - The Office of the High Representative (OHR)
for Bosnia-Herzegovina expects an agreement on the broadcasting on
Croatian Television (HTV) programmes on Bosnian territory will by
signed by the end of the week, OHR spokesman James Ferguson told
reporters in Sarajevo on Tuesday.
Ferguson announced deputy HR Ralph Johnson and other international
community officials in Bosnia will discuss the issue with
representatives of the Croatian Government and HTV this week.
The OHR expects a memorandum on understanding will be signed by the
end of the week.
HTV broadcasting in Bosnia was discontinued on 1 October under a
decision of former HR Carlos Westendorp. The gap was to be filled by
programmes broadcast by the radio-television of Bosnia's Croat-
Muslim federation. Since the federation's television did not
fulfil its obligation, it was tacitly permitted for HTV to resume
broadcasting.
Even though viewers in Bosnia will be able to watch HTV broadcasts,
specially selected programmes will be aired under a new law, which
stipulates the commercial purchase of the frequency, i.e. the
extant network of land transmitters.
