PORGES & AARON DISCUSS CROATIA'S JOINING WTO

ZAGREB, Sept 22 (Hina) - Croatian Economy Minister Nenad Porges on Wednesday held talks with the United States deputy trade secretary, David Aaron, on Croatia's joining the World Trade Organisation (WTO). The two officials also addressed economic relations between Croatia and the United States. The United States Ambassador to Croatia, William Montgomery, also attended the meeting. Aaron expressed satisfaction with the fact that Croatia was in the final stage of the joining process. He also pointed to the interest of US investors to make further investments in Croatia. On behalf of the US Trade Secretary, Aaron invited the Croatian Minister to participate in the work of a conference of economy and trade ministers of countries which participate in the Stability Pact. The conference, organised by the United States Government, is scheduled to be held in Sofia in early November. Aaron also invited Porges to participate in the annual session of the World Bank, and to visit the United States Trade Department. Porges pointed to Croatia's readiness to expand trade and overall economic cooperation with the United States. (hina) it
