ZAGREB, Sept 14 (Hina) - Croatian Economy Minister Nenad Porges and
Turkey's State Minister Fikret Unlu on Tuesday signed in Zagreb the
Protocol of the Second Conference of the Mixed Croatian-Turkish
Committee for Economic Cooperation.
The two ministers called on companies in both countries to increase
trade and conceive joint appearances on third markets.
"Croatian economic subjects permanently present in Turkey are less
than the fingers on one hand," Croatia's Porges said after signing
the Protocol.
He added the two countries' governments would set up a two-side
contractual infrastructure, which has already been signed in most
part, and co-finance adequate information channels.
"The rest is up to the businessmen," Porges said, and called on
Croats to start conquering the "huge and stable", ascending Turkish
market.
Croatian-Turkish trade in recent years has revolved below 0.4
percent of Croatia's entire trade. Porges urged both countries
businessmen' not to be focused solely on the presence of Turkish
businessmen in Croatia and vice-versa, but to focus on joint
presentations.
"If we concretise our efforts and launch real projects, it will be
to the benefit of both countries," said Turkey's Unlu. He added the
Protocol signed today would help large Turkish firms, such as
"Enka" and "Koc", realise their expectations.
Turkey is especially interested in cooperation in tourism,
construction, and infrastructure, Unlu said.
