ZAGREB, Sept 15 (Hina) - The defence attorney of Mladen Naletilic
Tuta on Wednesday appealed to Zagreb County Court against a court
ruling dated September 1, according to which all legal conditions
for Naletilic's extradition to the International Criminal Tribunal
for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) had been fulfilled.
The Zagreb County Court will forward the case to the Supreme Court,
president of the Zagreb County Court Miroslav Sumanovic said.
Naletilic's defence attorney, Kresimir Krsnik, proposed that the
Supreme Court change the ruling of the Zagreb County Court. He also
proposed that the Supreme court deny the ICTY's request for
Naletilic's extradition.
During the last court hearing held before the Zagreb County Court,
Krsnik opposed the extradition of his client. According to him,
ICTY's indictment is based on objective and not individual
responsibility. Krsnik also opposed that his client be extradited
before the completion of the trial conducted in Croatia.
The ICTY indictment reads that Naletilic, as the commander of the so
called convicts' brigade, committed crimes against humanity and
violated the Geneva conventions and war laws.
