ZAGREB, Sept 13 (Hina) - The Croatian Helsinki Committee (HHO) and the Croatian Movement for Democracy and Social Justice on Monday urged the Croatian parliament and ombudsman to initiate proceedings before the Constitutional Court to
ban the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP). According to a joint statement, read to the press by HHO vice president Jasminka Domas-Nolbastic, the appeal was made "due to HSP president Anto Djapic's appeal to Croatian generals to prevent the implementation of the Constitutional Law on cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague." The HHO also demands the initiation of proceedings which would control the constitutionality of HSP's programme and activity. ZAGREB, Sept 13 (Hina) - The Croatian Helsinki Committee (HHO) and
the Croatian Movement for Democracy and Social Justice on Monday
urged the Croatian parliament and ombudsman to initiate
proceedings before the Constitutional Court to ban the Croatian
Party of Rights (HSP).
According to a joint statement, read to the press by HHO vice
president Jasminka Domas-Nolbastic, the appeal was made "due to HSP
president Anto Djapic's appeal to Croatian generals to prevent the
implementation of the Constitutional Law on cooperation with the
International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The
Hague."
The HHO also demands the initiation of proceedings which would
control the constitutionality of HSP's programme and activity.
"HSP's current appeal to the Croatian army is a clear announcement
of the desire of HSP leadership's to organise an extra-
constitutional power system, which could be used for the
establishment of dictatorship during the time of the transfer of
authority in the pre- and post-electoral period," the statement
says.
HHO president Vjekoslav Vidovic said the HHO had already appealed
the state attorney to initiate criminal proceedings against
Djapic.
Responding to the press, Vidovic said the HHO would sue Djapic if
the State Attorney's Office failed to do so.
