SPLIT, Aug 26 (Hina) - Thick smoke is hampering Canadair fire fighter planes for battling a fire raging on the eastern bank of the Peruca lake not far from Sinj. More than 450 hectares of grassland and forests are burning. Land mines
left behind after the war are preventing fire fighters from approaching the area which erupted August 24, Split fire officials reported midday Thursday. The fire is continuing to spread however, nearby villages are not under threat. Canadair planes will be engaged as soon as the smoke holds up. Split fire officials reported that fire fighters were involved with another blaze which errupted in the Radosic region near Split, burning about 2 hectares of low grass land.(hina) sp
