SARAJEVO, Aug 16 (Hina) - The US Agency for International Development, USAID, plans to invest US$7 billion into programmes of social and economic reforms in more than 100 countries across the world, the organisation's head, Brady
Anderson, said in Sarajevo Monday. He stressed the USAID would play an important role in the implementation of programmes for the economic development of south-eastern European countries, envisaged by the recently signed Stability Pact. Anderson confirmed the organisation would continue to grant Bosnian companies favourable loans to spur private businesses. He warned, however, these were not donations, but loans which must be repaid. According to Anderson, problems in privatisation continue to represent the biggest obstacle to a speedy economic recovery of Bosnia-Herzegovina. Head of the USAID Mission to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Craig Buck, said the country would be granted a billion dollars
