VUKOVAR, Aug 10 (Hina) - A little over 20,000 persons out of 50,873 expelled from Vukovar-Srijem County in eastern-most Croatia in 1991 have returned to their pre-war homes by July 31.

According to Ante Drmic, head of the regional Office for Displaced
Persons and Refugees in Vinkovci, the highest number of returnees
has been registered in Ceric and Marinci, villages in Mustar
Municipality, where more than 90 percent of pre-war inhabitants
have returned. In the villages Apsevci and Donje Novoselo, the
number of returnees exceeds 95 percent.
More than 50 percent of returnees has been registered in the
municipalities Bogdanovci, Tompojevci, and Torbinci, and in the
Ilok area.
The smallest number of returnees has been registered in
municipalities with a majority Serbian population; 168 out of 986
pre-war inhabitants have returned to Borovo Municipality, and 51
out of 316 to Trpinje Municipality.
In Vukovar, the number of returnees by July 31 reached 3,711, out of
21,703 exiled by the Serbian aggressor in 1991.
