SUNJA, July 27 (Hina) - About 2,600 Croats from Banja Luka,

demanded the Republic of Croatia and its authorities to promptly
solve their status, as well as the permanent solution for their
housing issue, and greater state care which would provide the same

Croats and Serb returnees, president of the association of Sunja
municipality inhabitants Franjo Juric told a press conference on
Monday.
He stressed that 98 percent of the Banja Luka Croats, living in the
Sunja region, expressed a desire to remain in Croatia. They do not
wish to return to the Republika Srpska, from where they were
displaced by Bosnian Serbs in August of 1995, because Serb
authorities in the Bosnian Serb entity and the international
community failed to provide them with a guarantee for the safe
return, the return of property, as well as decent and safe life in
the Banja Luka region.
According to Juric, most of the displaced Banja Luka Croats in Sunja
are disappointed with their current status, namely with the way
Croatia was referring to rights and needs.
We demand the Government and the Agency for Legal Transactions and
Real Estate Management to accelerate the purchase of empty houses,
Juric said.
