VUKOVAR PORT THIS YEAR VUKOVAR, July 21 (Hina) - The port of Vukovar on the Danube River on Wednesday saw the arrival of the first ship this year. Navigation on the Danube River had been discontinued due to NATO air strikes on
Yugoslavia. The port estimates that damage caused by the navigation ban amounts to more than DM1.28 million. Today's arrival of the Ukrainian ship 'Alekseja Ivleva', carrying 500 tonnes of sugar for the Bosnian market, is a sign that the trust of business partners in the Vukovar port is being re-established, said director Tomislav Latinac. Latinac also believes that difficulties in river traffic in the Vukovar region are caused by the Bezdan port (on the Danube River, on the Yugoslav territory), where, he says, Yugoslav police and customs officials unnecessarily hold up ships with clean papers.(hina) rml
