ZAGREB, July 20 (Hina) - The United States Embassy in Croatia on Tuesday granted US$100,000 to the Foundation for Legal Defence, established at the Croatian Journalists' Association with the aim to assist Croatian publishers and
journalists in legal actions against them. According to an embassy statement, the foundation was granted the money to assist publishers and journalists pay remuneration to attorneys, and settle court and other costs related to court proceedings. The statement says the money will not be used to pay damages which publishers or journalists, according to the verdict, should pay to prosecutors. The foundation will be managed by the Croatian Journalists' Association, which will establish clear directives and the procedure according to which the money will be allocated, the statement said.(hina) ha
