Opposition Six in Zagreb and stressed that the most important American interest in Croatia is the continuation of the democratic progress of this country. This was the first visit to Croatia of Ambassador Dobbins who succeeded the former U.S. envoy for the conduct of the Dayton deal, Robert Gelbard. held a meeting with Croatia's Opposition Six in Zagreb and stressed
that the most important American interest in Croatia is the
continuation of the democratic progress of this country.

The co-ordinator of the Opposition Six, the leader of the HSLS
(Croatian Social and Liberal Party, Drazen Budisa, said the
presidents of all six opposition parties (of the HSLS, the Social
Democratic Party or SDP, the Liberal Party or LS, the Istrian
Democratic Alliance or IDS, or the Croatian People's Party or HNS or
the Croatian Peasants' Party or HSS) had expressed concisely their
opinions about the developments in Croatia and about the country's
international standing, while Dobbins conveyed the bases of the
American policy toward Croatia.
