INCOMING OSCE HEAD VISITS VUKOVAR-SRIJEM COUNTY

VINKOVCI, July 8 (Hina) - The incoming head of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Bernard Poncet, on Thursday visited Vukovar-Srijem County. Poncet held talks with the Vukovar-Srijem County Prefect, Rudolf Koening, and his deputies Andrija Matic and Mirko Jagetic in the eastern Croatian town of Vinkovci. The visit and the talks with the representatives of local authorities is the best way to establish cooperation between the OSCE and Vukovar-Srijem County, Poncet said. According to him, the cooperation would enable better life for all people in the county. Koening informed Poncet of difficulties, particularly in economy, the reconstruction, and the return of displaced persons. Jagetic pointed to the difficulties in relations between different nationalities on the state level. According to him, Serbs in Vukovar-Srijem County are not satisfied with the implementation of the Amnesty Act and the Law and Decree Adjustment Act. After the talks with the Vukovar-Srijem County officials, Poncet also met with representatives of the Serb national minority in the eastern Croatian town of Vukovar. (hina) it
