took part in Pretoria Thursday in the inauguration of the new president of the South African republic, Thabo Mbeki. The ceremony was attended by some 30 heads of state and 96 prime ministers. The meeting was also attended by heads of state of G8 countries due to the upcoming meeting at the highest level in Germany. The South African Government did not forward invitations to Yugoslavia and the Comoro Islands. "This is one of the biggest meetings of head of states," Tudjman told Croatian reporters. achieved through unity in the country," Tudjman said.
The meeting between presidents Tudjman and Mbeki has been scheduled
for Thursday.
On Thursday and Friday Tudjman will meet representatives of the
Croatian communities in Johannesburg and Capetown.
Accompanying Tudjman on his visit to the Republic of South Africa
are Croatian National Parliament vice-president Ivan Aralica,
Foreign Minister Mate Granic and presidential advisers Neven Madey
and Janko Vraniczany Dobrinovic.
