UN HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR REFUGEES TO VISIT KOSOVO

PRISTINA, July 5 (Hina) - The UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Sadako Ogata, is to visit Kosovo on Monday for the first time since the NATO air strikes against Yugoslavia (Serbia/Montenegro). On Monday morning Ogata left Skopje and was heading toward Pristina along with a group of ethnic Albanians who were returning to Kosovo in convoys organised by the UNHCR. Ogata will hold meetings with representatives of international organisations which are working in Kosovo. To date, over 560,000 ethnic Albanians have come back to Kosovo, and a few thousand refugees are now returning to this corner of the Balkans. A spokesman for UNHCR in Kosovo, Ron Redmond said this organisation needed 10 million dollars per week, whereas it now got 2.4 million what was sufficient for two days.(hina) ms
