Liberal Party (LS) will promote the strengthening of cooperation

of all democratic forces in Croatia could lead to the change of the
authority at the upcoming elections, the LS said in a statement on
the political situation in the country.
The statement, presented by president of the party Vlado Gotovac,
was endorsed by the LS Head Committee.
Gotovac said that the passing of a fair electoral law was the primer
duty of the "Opposition Six". According to him, the contentious
issue in negotiations with the ruling Croatian Democratic Union
(HDZ) is the use of Croatian Television (HTV) during the election
campaign, which is very important for preparations for the
elections.
According to the LS president, the political pressure and terror
increased during the past two months. Because of this, the frame,
according to which the election compaign will be run, became
unsuitable for democratic elections.
The "Opposition Six" demonstrated flexibility during negotiations
with the HDZ, while the ruling party failed to make any crucial step
in creating conditions for the implementation of free and fair
elections.
The "Opposition Six" must decide how to continue negotiations with
the HDZ. The frame we set up demonstrate a compromise, but it can
function only if it doesn't jeopardise the upcoming democratic
elections, Gotovac said.
According to Gotovac, during a debate on the work of security and
intelligence services, the ruling party fail to express readiness
to adopt any democratic changes in this important issue.
