FINNISH FOREIGN MINISTER RECEIVES SSSH PRESIDENT

ZAGREB, July 2 (Hina) - Finnish Foreign Minister Tarja Halonen, who is chairing the European Union, on Thursday received the president of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH), Davor Juric, the SSSH said in a statement on Friday. The reception was a part of the expanded programme of the ninth congress of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), which is being held in Helsinki from June 29 to July 2, the SSSH said in a statement on Friday. The SSSH president told Minister Halonen that trade unions must take a great share of responsibility for the democratic development of their countries. Halonen said that Finland would insist on the strengthening of the spirit of peace and cooperation in countries affected by war, and a strong economic support to the reconstruction of war-affected countries in line with the Stability Pact.
