ZAGREB, June 23 (Hina) - The Committee for the Prevention of Political Violence on Wednesday sent an open letter to the President of the Republic, Prime Minister and the Parliament President, warning about "the inefficiency of police
in discovering persons who committed violence against union, party and civil activists". The Committee demands from the Croatian President, Prime Minister and the Parliament President to "use their authority and prompt police to act efficiently in preventing violence and discovering perpetrators", said Boris Kunst, the Committee's head and president of the Federation of Croatian Workers' Unions (URSH). According to Kunst, the police have still not solved the case of assassination of a union member Milan Krivokuca, nor have they found the persons involved in the beating up of Ivan Tolic, vice-president of the Union of Engine Drivers, and a recent attack

President of the Republic, Prime Minister and the Parliament
President, warning about "the inefficiency of police in
discovering persons who committed violence against union, party
and civil activists".
The Committee demands from the Croatian President, Prime Minister
and the Parliament President to "use their authority and prompt
police to act efficiently in preventing violence and discovering
perpetrators", said Boris Kunst, the Committee's head and
president of the Federation of Croatian Workers' Unions (URSH).
According to Kunst, the police have still not solved the case of
assassination of a union member Milan Krivokuca, nor have they
found the persons involved in the beating up of Ivan Tolic, vice-
president of the Union of Engine Drivers, and a recent attack on the
president of the Socialist Labour Party, Stipe Suvar.
Kunst called on Interior Minister Ivan Penic to issue a statement on
the investigations into the above-mentioned cases and other acts of
violence committed against union, party and civil activists.
The Committee for the Prevention of Political Violence was formed
as an ad hoc body on June 11. Its establishment was initiated by the
URSH.
