COMMITTEE AGAINST POLITICAL VIOLENCE URGES POLICE TO BE MORE EFFICIENT

ZAGREB, June 23 (Hina) - The Committee for the Prevention of Political Violence on Wednesday sent an open letter to the President of the Republic, Prime Minister and the Parliament President, warning about "the inefficiency of police in discovering persons who committed violence against union, party and civil activists". The Committee demands from the Croatian President, Prime Minister and the Parliament President to "use their authority and prompt police to act efficiently in preventing violence and discovering perpetrators", said Boris Kunst, the Committee's head and president of the Federation of Croatian Workers' Unions (URSH). According to Kunst, the police have still not solved the case of assassination of a union member Milan Krivokuca, nor have they found the persons involved in the beating up of Ivan Tolic, vice-president of the Union of Engine Drivers, and a recent attack
