The two-day event which ended on Saturday included delegations from
13 states of the Danube River Area. The Croatian delegation was led
by Economy Minister Nenad Porges.
After the end of the conference, Porges said this group of countries
can anticipate in the future their considerable influence on the
decision-making in Brussels - when each of them formulates its
relations with the European Union in next ten years - although it
now seems unreal.
Minister Porges and his counterparts from other 12 Danubian
countries also talked about the bilateral relations and the
advancement of the cooperation. They also discussed difficulties
and operational programmes at a level of certain firms in
fulfilling their ambitions in these countries.
Porges and Austrian Economy Minister Hannes Farnleitner considered
why Austria became one of key partners of Croatia, Porges said.
Minister Farnleitner described the meeting with his Croatian
counterpart as a very open and friendly conversation about all
issues in the bilateral and multilateral relations between these
two friendly countries.
After the talks between Porges and SECI (Southeaster European
Cooperation Initiative) coordinator, a former Austrian Vice
Chancellor Erhard Busek, the Austrian told Hina that the SECI might
be the coordinator of interests of countries in the region for the
implementation of the Stability Pact. Countries in the region
should formulate their own priorities and draw up projects very
important for themselves and their peoples. The SECI would like to
be useful to the entire region, Busek added.
