ZAGREB, June 11 (Hina) - The Croatian Post and Telecommunications Trade Union (HSPT) is staging a day-long strike and a protest at the French Republic Square in downtown Zagreb in disagreement with a government motion for the
privatisation of Croatian Telecommunications (HT). The union demands that HT's majority owner remain the state, and that current and former employees be given the right to a privileged purchase of the company's shares up to DM20,000, i.e. 15 percent of the company's value, instead of the seven percent proposed by the government. According to announcements, during the strike postal services will be reduced, while telecommunications services will be fully available. The HSPT expects some 6,000 members will go on strike in Zagreb alone. At the French Republic Square protest, union leaders will address the strikers. A press conference will be
