ZAGREB, June 10 (Hina) - Member of Parliament, a representative of the Serb ethnic community at the Croatian National Parliament, Milan Djukic, announced Thursday Serbs would not run as candidates at the upcoming elections if the
electoral law only envisages one seat for them. Speaking about the position of the Serb ethnic community, Djukic said there were still discriminatory laws in effect in Croatia. According to him, key parts of the Constitutional Law pertaining to the protection of rights of ethnic communities and national minorities were still suspended, while a part of the citizens were stripped of their civil rights. Djukic holds the Serb ethnic community is also stripped of the right to return to their homes and to their property, adding 37,000 Serbs have returned to Croatia, not 58,200 as stated by representatives of Croatian authorities. Speaking about the position of the Serb ethnic community, Djukic
said there were still discriminatory laws in effect in Croatia.
According to him, key parts of the Constitutional Law pertaining to
the protection of rights of ethnic communities and national
minorities were still suspended, while a part of the citizens were
stripped of their civil rights.

According to him, Serb citizens were discriminated against with
regards the right to work, and the Law and Decree Adjustment Act,
relating to members of the Serb ethnic community in particular, was
not being implemented.
