TIRANA, May 24 (Hina) - Some 500 Kosovans who were released on Sunday from the Smrekovnica prison near Vucitrn, crossed into Albania near the town of Kukes. According to their testimonies broadcast by the Radio Tirana, most of
detained persons were abused in the Serb-run prison. One of those who were imprisoned is a journalist of the Pristina-based Koha Ditore daily, Musa Mustafa. He said he had seen the slaughter of 80 men on May 2 in the village of Geronje Studime near Vucitrn. Furthermore, Serbs raped many Albanian women then. Serb forces demanded from 2,000 to 5,000 German marks for the release of a Albanian woman. According to Musa, at least 3,500 ethnic Albanians were detained in that notorious prison near Vucitrn. Another released man, Nysret Krasniqi, said that at least 350 detainees had been kept in a hall 25 metres long and three (3) metres wide so that they could not even sit down.(hina) ms
