ZAGREB, June 10 (Hina) - A Council of Europe delegation, experts headed by media sector chief, Christophe Poirel, on Thursday held talks in Zagreb with several Croatian MPs about a bill on telecommunications, the Parliament's public
relations office reported. Council of Europe representatives stressed the need for laws and their applications to be harmonised with Croatia's commitments assumed at its accession into this organisation. The experts expressed interest in the independence of the media, and discussed relations between the Croatian Radio and Television (HRT) Council and the Council for Telecommunications, the financing of private television stations, and the need to harmonise the Law on HRT with the bill on telecommunications, which is in its second reading.
