Bosnia Herzegovina (OHR), on Thursday initiated an investigation
which should determine circumstances surrounding the embezzlement
of at least DM20 million, earmarked for the reconstruction of
Bosnia-Herzegovina via the BH Banka in Sarajevo.
The OHR said in a statement that several international
organisations initiated criminal proceedings against the BH Banka,
because millions of German marks deposited in the bank and

legal owners were not able to use it.
The OHR stressed that the BH Banka scandal was very serious and
added that this was most probably a case of corruption which
jeopardises the legitimacy of authorities, and the subversion of
democracy in the eyes of the public.
The deputy of the High Representative in charged of economic
issues, Didier Fau said that Bosnia-Herzegovina would face
damaging consequences, unless the embezzled money was returned.
