Bonino told the conference that the European Commission had recently granted additional 150 million euro for humanitarian programmes in relation to the Kosovo crisis. A part of the money could be approved for projects in Bosnia, she added. He called on Bosnian officials to use this year as the last one in which they could count on a significant influx of international funds. Bonino endorsed the orientation toward speedier integration of the area of the former Yugoslavia and Albania into European associations, explaining that it would be the only way for prevention of fresh conflict and crises in the region.
