CROATIA AND IBRD TO SIGN LOAN AGREEMENT

ZAGREB, May 20 (Hina) - The Croatian Government on Thursday decided to start proceedings to initiate a loan agreement between Croatia and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBDR) for a project aimed at facilitating trade and transport in southeast Europe. The IBRD loan would amount to US$10.1 million, and would be paid by instalments over 15 years, with a five-year grace period. The loan would be used for a customs procedure institutional reform (US$1.4 million), facilitating trade development (US$700,000), the renovation of customs offices, and the reconstruction of bridges (US$5.8 million), and project expenses (US$0.7 million). This project is a part of a regional project which includes Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, and Romania, as a part of the Southeast European Cooperative Initiative (SECI).
