WASHINGTON, May 4 (Hina) - The World Bank will partially finance the reconstruction of the medieval bridge over the Neretva River in the southern Bosnia-Herzegovina town of Mostar, demolished during the Croat-Moslem clashes in 1993.
?he World Bank Deputy Executive Director for Europe, Christian Portman, said the World Bank committed itself to donating US$4 million for the reconstruction of the bridge. The project, worth US$8 million, will be carried out through the UNESCO. The Bosnia-Herzegovina Foreign Trade Minister, Mirsad Kurtovic, on Monday negotiated terms of the loan with World Bank and UNESCO representatives. Also present at the negotiations were Mostar mayor Ivan Prskalo and his deputy Safet Orucevic. A World Bank committee will soon reach the final decision on the loan.(hina) it/rml
