POREC, May 16 (Hina) - Croatia has good opportunities of the development of cultural tourism, and the UNESCO will help the country in such efforts by an appropriate programme, said the head of the UNESCO (UN Educational and Scientific
Organisation) World Heritage Centre, Mounir Bouchenaki, during his meeting with Croatia's Tourism Minister, Ivan Herak, in Porec on Sunday. After touring several Croatian Adriatic towns, Mr. Bouchenaki said he had now more reasons to support Croatia's bids to include its monuments in the World Heritage List. After his talks with Herak and local authorities in the Porec Town Hall, this UNESCO official visited the Euphrasian Basilica, which was added on the UNESCO List last year. Bouchenaki, accompanied by Croatia's Ambassador to the UNESCO, Vesna Girardi-Jurkic, also toured Romanesque churches in the hinterland of Istria.(hina) ms
