President Franjo Tudjman and opposition leaders regarding a new election model, but rather Ivica Racan's and Drazen Budisa's suggestions were taken for harmonising as interesting and constructive. Seks reiterated these views, commenting on the dissatisfaction by the six opposition parties known as the "Opposition Six" concerning a section of his letter published on Friday. ZAGREB, May 10 (Hina) - The president of the Croatian Democratic
Union (HDZ) party bench at the Croatian national Parliament,
Vladimir Seks, said on Monday that no agreement had been reached
during last week's talks between Croatian President Franjo Tudjman
and opposition leaders regarding a new election model, but rather
Ivica Racan's and Drazen Budisa's suggestions were taken for
harmonising as interesting and constructive.
Seks reiterated these views, commenting on the dissatisfaction by
the six opposition parties known as the "Opposition Six" concerning
a section of his letter published on Friday.
In his letter, Seks called on the Opposition Six to meet in a
location outside of Zagreb and to remain there until a consensus on
the electoral legislature is reached.
From statements given by certain party leaders, it is evident they
cannot agree on the basic institutes of the new electoral laws, Seks
said Monday afternoon.
He said he had suggested the Opposition Six's coordinator, Trconic,
that presidents of party benches from the house of representatives
meet this week to discuss certain suggestions.
Seks also explained that, when he suggested the parties to meet
outside of Zagreb, he did not wish to exclude the public nor expert
advice from a group of experts who worked on the new electoral
legislature.
As regards a possible date of the elections to take place, he said
neither President Tudjman, nor him mentioned it to be December 26.
I don't know who made up and started rumours on the date. It was said
the elections would take place between Christmas and New Year, but
nobody mentioned December 26, Seks said.
