ZAGREB, May 9 (Hina) - On the occasion of Victory Day, delegations
of Croatian President Franjo Tudjman, the national parliament
(Sabor) and the Government, laid wreaths at the Altar of Homeland at
Medvedgrad outside Zagreb, on Sunday.
"Anti-Fascism and the victory of the anti-Fascist coalition is one
of rare issues in politics which unite Europe and the world. Croatia
as a modern country has its roots in the anti-Fascist coalition and
therefore we mark especially this day," wrote Ivica Kostovic,
Tudjman's chief-of-staff while signing the visitors' book.
Kostovic led Croatian President's delegation at the wreath-lying
ceremony at Medvedgrad.
On behalf of the Sabor, its vice-president Vladimir Seks, who
headed the parliamentary delegation, placed the wreath and signed
the visitors' book.
The Government's delegation was headed by Justice Minister
Zvonimir Separovic.
"At this holy site we bow down to the victims of Fascism and to all
other victims fallen for freedom ad our democratic, independent
state," Separovic wrote while signing the visitors' book.
After that he recalled that Croatia had never given up anti-Fascism
and that it was now the only country to have a member of the anti-
Fascist movement for its President.
"Croatia gave great contribution to anti-Fascism, and therefore it
has all reasons to be included into the struggle for peace, human
rights, freedom and democracy," Separovic said adding that anti-
Fascism had been just one stage in the creation of the free
Croatia.
