ZAGREB, May 5 (Hina) - The Croatian Journalists' Association (HND) on Wednesday protested against the banishment of the Croatian daily "Vjesnik" correspondent in Belgrade, Vesna Fabris Perunicic, from Yugoslavia. Milosevic's regime
continues taking the lead among the world's most undemocratic countries, not flinching from arrests and trials or even the killing of reporters, the HND said in a statement. The HND cannot accept the explanation of the Yugoslav Ambassador Veljko Knezevic that "different rules apply in the state of war", because the Yugoslav authorities had behaved similarly in peace, justifying their actions with higher state interests and disregarding international conventions and the right of journalists to report the truth. The HND will persevere in the protection of rights of its members, the statement read.(hina) rml
